The highest peak in Jordan

At 1,854 metres, Jebel Umm ad Dami towers over southern Wadi Rum, right by the Saudi border. On a clear day, the view reaches the mountains of Saudi Arabia.

No technique: a steep, stony path, at your own pace. You just need to be a good walker. Eid, Bedouin guide and climber, takes you from the track to the summit.

One of the best guides you could ask for

“Impressive his knowledge of over 200 mountains without a GPS, but his cooking skills whilst singing will be mesmerising you […] he will adapt to hike, relax, laughs […] you mention it to him and Amina and they will make it happen.”

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be very fit?
You need to be a good walker: the climb is steep and stony, but needs no climbing technique. You go at your own pace, with breaks.
What can you see from the top?
All of southern Wadi Rum and, on a clear day, the mountains of Saudi Arabia across the border.
Umm ad Dami or Jebel Rum?
Umm ad Dami is higher, but it is a hike with no technique. Jebel Rum involves exposed scrambling: it suits the fittest.
Is the night at camp included?
Yes: if you want to sleep in the desert, the night at camp on the evening of your outing is included, in the bivouac or the Bedouin camp, with dinner and breakfast. Real beds under the stars: +25 JOD per person. The night before: 25 JOD for 1 person, 20 JOD per person from 2.
How do I pay?
In cash, in Jordanian dinars (JOD), on site. No cards, and no deposit when you book.
Can we go in summer?
Yes, with a very early start because of the heat. Spring and autumn are still the best seasons.
