Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to climb?
No: you go up on foot using your hands, with no rope or climbing shoes. What matters is good fitness and a head for heights.
How does it compare with Jebel Rum?
Khazali is shorter and less exposed: 600 m of ascent versus 850 m. It is a good first scramble before Jebel Rum.
What is the difference between climbing and scrambling?
Climbing means roped ascents on bolted routes, with shoes and gear. Scrambling, as on Jebel Rum or Khazali, means going up on foot and using your hands.
Is the night at camp included?
Yes: if you want to sleep in the desert, the night at camp on the evening of your outing is included, in the bivouac or the Bedouin camp, with dinner and breakfast. Real beds under the stars: +25 JOD per person. The night before: 25 JOD for 1 person, 20 JOD per person from 2.
How do I pay?
In cash, in Jordanian dinars (JOD), on site. No cards, and no deposit when you book.
Can we climb in summer?
Yes, but only early in the morning or late in the day, because of the heat. Spring and autumn are still the best seasons.
