After a night in the desert, many of our guests continue to Petra. The good news: it is only about 2 hours by road. Here is how to make the trip simply, by taxi or by car.

By taxi: the simplest
A taxi from the Wadi Rum Rest House to your hotel in Wadi Musa costs about 40 JOD per vehicle, for up to 4 people. Tell us when you book and we arrange it with a driver we know, at a fixed price, ready when you come back from the desert.
Is there a bus from Wadi Rum to Petra?
A morning bus runs from Petra to Wadi Rum, but in the other direction there is no reliable daily bus. Some days a minibus leaves, some days not. If your schedule matters, take a taxi: it is faster, door to door, and not much more expensive when you share it.
By car
From the village, drive back to the Desert Highway, then head north and follow the signs to Wadi Musa and Petra. The roads are good and signposted in Arabic and English. Leave with a full tank and keep some cash for fuel on the way.

When to leave Wadi Rum
After a night in the desert, we bring you back to the village after breakfast, usually mid-morning. You reach Petra around noon: enough time to settle in, rest and maybe walk to the Siq at the end of the day. Petra itself deserves at least one full day.

A night in the desert before Petra
Bedouin camp, bivouac or real beds under the stars, with dinner and breakfast: our Wadi Rum overnight stays. We arrange your taxi to Petra the next morning.
